Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas, already in Katy, TX, are coming to Houston. The cinemas are owned by Triple Tap Ventures, and they say they are looking forward to introducing two new state of the art locations in Houston, next year.

Northwest Houston will see the first Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in early 2013, in the Vintage Park Shopping Village off Tomball Parkway 249 and Louetta Road. The Vintage Park Shopping Village, owned by Texas-based Dunhill Partners, consists of sixteen buildings with around 324,000 square feet of ground floor retail and professional facilities. The center looks like a Venetian Piazza complete with bell towers, fountains, monuments and classical architecture.

"We are extremely pleased to have the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema coming soon to Vintage Park Shopping Village and joining our other fine retail and dining experiences. We look towards their opening with great anticipation, adding to the overall entertainment choices at Vintage Park."
- William L. Hutchinson, President, Dunhill Partners

The state-of-the-art Vintage Park cinema is to have high-tech digital projection, huge screens and "sound that will blow your socks off."

Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas feature the best first-run Hollywood films, Alamo-exclusive signature events and celebrity guest appearances, accompanied by rotating menus and craft beer selections, ordered and enjoyed right from your seat in the theatre. Triple Tap Ventures President, Neil Michaelsen says they will continue to serve the local Houston film industry as well as bringing to town renowned international events such as the Tribeca Film Festival.

The second new Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, in Houston's bustling Midtown, at 2901 Louisiana Street, is scheduled to open after Vintage Park.

The Louisiana Street location is part of a mixed-use project developed by Crosspoint Properties. It will also have state-of-the-art auditoriums featuring 100 percent digital projection and sound as well as an expansive and inviting lobby bar, visible from Milam Street, with panoramic views of the impressive Houston downtown skyline. The ground floor lobby entrance leading up to the theatre, is to be located above a three floor parking garage.

Cinema - Midtown will cater to the 700,000 plus residents living within 15 minutes of the new theater. The company plans to partner with inner-loop organizations such as Aurora Picture Show, the Downtown Management District, Market Square Park, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Whole Foods and many others.

Sadly, the older Alamo Drafthouse Cinema at West Oaks Mall is to close this year. In 2011 Alamo Drafthouse Cinema was named "The Best Movie Theater" in Houston by the Houston Press, "One of the 10 Best Theaters in the World" by CNN International, "Coolest Movie Theatre in the World" by Wired.com and has also been named "Best Theater Ever" by Time Magazine.
